The FAQ.
Everything you’d DM us about, answered once, in writing, with the cats’ blessing.
What exactly do you sell?
One thing, done properly: the Classic Sourdough — a round loaf of flour, water, salt, and wild-yeast patience, single score down the middle, leaf pattern when the baker’s feeling fancy. $15, every loaf, flat. The menu grows when the cats approve something new.
How do I order, and which day is my bake?
Order through the site and put your preferred Saturday or Sunday in the order notes. We will confirm the bake day by email. If that weekend is full, you can choose the next available bake or get a full refund (the starter refuses to be rushed, but your money does not).
Can I cancel or change my weekend?
Yes. You may cancel for a full refund any time before your scheduled pickup or delivery. Please tell us as early as you can so a loaf does not go to waste; if baking has already started, contact us anyway and our make-it-right promise still applies.
Where do I pick it up?
Porch pickup in the Landsdale neighborhood of Monrovia, Maryland. The exact address arrives with your order confirmation — this is a home bakery, so we don’t post it publicly.
Is it true you deliver by golf cart?
Yes — and it’s free. If you live in Landsdale, your bread can arrive at your door by golf cart on Saturday or Sunday, no delivery charge. The golf cart cannot leave the neighborhood — legally, mechanically, spiritually — so outside Landsdale it’s porch pickup. We’ve asked the cart. The answer was no.
How do I pay?
At checkout, right on the site — through PayPal, using your PayPal account or a regular card. No cash apps, no DM invoices, no “I’ll get you next weekend.” If you are not happy, our make-it-right promise gives you a replacement, credit, or refund.
Do you ship?
No. We’re a Maryland cottage food business, which means direct-to-customer sales only — and honestly, this bread is at its best the day you get it, not after two days in a box.
What’s in the bread? Allergen stuff?
Flour, water, salt, and sourdough starter. That’s the whole list. It contains wheat and gluten, and it’s baked in a home kitchen — if you have a severe food allergy, please treat it like any home-kitchen product and use your judgment.
Wait — cats and a kitchen?
The management team supervises from a separate, food-safe room with a very good view. No cats in the kitchen, no cat hair in the crumb — they take the credit, not the health-code risk. Meet them anyway.
Is this a real, legal business?
Yes — Breadiful CATastrophe is an LLC operating as a Maryland cottage food business, baking out of our home kitchen in accordance with Maryland’s cottage food rules. As Maryland requires us to tell you: made by a cottage food business that is not subject to Maryland’s food safety regulations.
Can I request a custom bake or a big order?
Maybe! Tell us what you’re dreaming about through the contact page and we’ll see what the oven (and the cats) can commit to.
Ask us directly.
DM @breadifulcatastropheco or use the contact page. A human will answer; a cat will supervise the reply.
